History of FJSNA


The Foreign Joint Service Non-Commissioned Officers' Association (FJSNA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1976 by Australia, Great Britain, and New Zealand. It is the only worldwide NCO Association existing in the United States.


The purpose of the Association is to foster and promote comradeship, conviviality, relationships, and understanding among its members serving in the National Capital Region, Washington, D.C.


A monthly meeting is hosted at a different Embassy, or by one of the American military services.


Active participants include Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Zimbabwe. 


During its 40 years of existence, the Association has evolved dramatically with the full support of the United States Armed Forces. The U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard are active participants. The senior enlisted members of each United States military service are designated honorary members.


Previous events sponsored by U.S. service representatives include:


* Visit of the Marine boot camp at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island, SC, hosted by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps


* Visit to the Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy and Nellis AFB, with the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force


* At sea and at the Coast Guard Academy with the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard


* Visit of a nuclear submarine with the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy


* Visit of the National Observatory with the Commandant of the Naval District of Washington, D.C.


*Country representatives of the German Armed Forces Command have invited FJSNA members to Oktoberfest as well as their Halloween and Children's Christmas parties.


 *The Australian Embassy has opened its doors for Defence Prayers. 


*The Belgian contingent has invited members to the NATO SeaSparrow golf tournament.


The Association emphasizes shared training, education, and social activity among its members. The relationship with the American Armed Forces remains strong and together we are a recognized and respected organization that achieves its goals thanks to the commitment of every member.
